Annual Community Event Enjoys Largest Race Fields in Twelve Year History
With 309 two and five mile finishers and a whole bunch of kiddie run participants, the 12th anniversary running of the Moraga 4th of July Races was the biggest ever! Congratulations to all of our participants.
A new course record was set in the men’s two mile race with Colby Pines (17) running 10:43, to improve the old record by 4 seconds. Colby’s brother Justin still owns with 5 mile record of 25:54 which he set in 2006.
Nicolette Sorensen (12) was the top female two mile racer with an outstanding time of 12:40. She improved the old 11-13 age group record, which was set in 2001, by 2 minutes. Di Harlow (55) improved her own 50-59 age group record, which she set last year at 14:50, by 41 seconds.
In the five mile race, Nate Beach (18) was the overall winner with a time of 26:59. His father Tad Beach (50) set a new 50-59 age group record with a time of 31:09. The prior record was set in 2001 by Robert Gormley. Robert still holds numerous 2 mile and 5 mile age group records. Sumi Kim (26) won the women's 5 mile with a fine time of 35:23.

A huge thank you to the Lamorinda community for the wonderful support of the Campolindo cross country and track teams! 2007 Holiday Race Features Repeat Champions, New Family Dynasties!
Thank
you for record attendance at the 11th anniversary of the Moraga
Fun runs!
Over
300 runners and a whole bunch of kiddie run participants made our
11th anniversary running of the Moraga 4th of July Races the biggest
ever! Congratulations to all of our participants.
Dan
Madigan (28) repeated as victor in the two mile race with
a time of 11:26. Dan holds the course record of 10:47 which he set
in 2006. On the women's side, Katy Nelson led all
runners with a time of 13:20. Two women’s age group records
fell. Mary Orders (age 10), ran 14:49 to top the
previous 10 and under age group record of 15:40 and Di Harlow
dropped the 50-59 age group record to 15:31.
In
the five-mile race Conner Mooney (18) led the pack
with a time of 27:11. Sumi Kim (25) led all female
runners with a time of 36:46.
Special
recognition is due Moraga newcomers – the Orders Family. This
family of talented runners placed in the medals in every race they
entered with 4 first place and 1 third place finishes! Mary
Orders (10) set a new age group record of 14:49 in the
10 and under 2 mile race. Her sister Sarah Orders
(11) finished third in the speedy 11-18 category with a time of
14:42. Her sister Grace Orders (14) won the 11-18
category with a time of 13:37. Mom and Dad were not to be outdone
by the kids though! Ann Orders won the 40-49 category
with a time of 14:09 and Mark Orders won the 40-49
category with a time of 12:27. We all look forward to watching the
progress of these girls over the next few years!
