Orders Owns 3200m, Noll Soars to Title; Cougars Qualify 20 for NCS Tri-Valley

Helping the varsity girls' squad to a second place finish at the DFAL track & field championships, freshman sensation Grace Orders (11) strung out the 1600m field early, then held off College Park's Alycia Cridebring for second place and a 5:10.5ce clocking that moves her to fifth All-Time on the Cougar record board.

Apparently, this feat was just a warm up. Orders finished off her day with a thorough thrashing of her competitors in the second half of the 3200m race. After holding herself in check for the first mile, Orders sprang from the pack, dropping negative splits through the finish to claim the meet title.

Also earning an individual league crown, Brayton Noll (09) topped three other pole vaulters at 12-6 by virtue of fewer misses. Noll's varsity girls counterpart, Stacey Jung (08), having already earned that event's meet title on Wednesday, spent Friday afternoon increasing her school record in the triple jump to 36-6 for a second league win.

Robert Pulford (09) capped a solid day for the varsity boys distance team with a second place finish in the 3200m that earns him the eighth All-Time spot on the record board.

All told, twenty Cougars claimed berths to the NCS Tri-Valley Championships, extending their journey deeper into the post season.
