Isaacs, Verdon Lead Girls to Title; Keeble Dominates Hurdles as Boys Clinch DFAL Crown with Runner-up Performance

Heaving the iron to nearly a two-foot career best, Eva Isaacs (10) reigned supreme over the rest of the DFAL at Friday's League Championship finals in San Ramon. Hosted by Dougherty Valley High School, the week long affair provided several season highlights as the Cougars completed the best overall league performance in two decades!

Isaacs started out her championship week with a first place finish in the discus on Wednesday, before returning Friday to crush the rest of the shot put field. Earning runner-up honors on Wednesday were teammates Alyssa Huberts (10) in triple jump and Brayton Noll (09) in pole vault.

The Cougar's league title push continued to gain momentum as Matt Keeble (10) outran the rest of the league in both hurdle events before leaping to a sixth all-time triple jump mark, which combined with his fourth place long jump performance earned 32 individual points for his team.

Meanwhile, Campolindo's vaunted distance squad ran the rest of the league ragged, taking four of the top six places in the boys' 1600m, and five of the top six in the boys' 3200m. On the girls' side, Grace Orders (11) finished in the top three in all three distance events, accounting for 20 points and inspiring the rest of her team. Carrie Verdon also earned 20 points with victories in the 1600m and 3200m. Verdon's 1600m mark of 5:10.1ce ranks her fifth in Cougar history.
