Verdon, Swanson Earn Individual Titles; Girls Team Takes NCS Tri-Valley Crown

Repeating her title tandem of 2011, Carrie Verdon (12) won the 1600m and 3200m races at Saturday's North Coast Section Tri-Valley Championships, hosted by Granada High School. Teammate Hadley Swanson (13) equaled her career best to top the long jump field, and added a runner-up mark in the high jump as well as a 5th place finish in the 400m.

Rhea Jayachandran (12) bounced back from a disappointing false start disqualification in the 100 hurdles to take 3rd in the triple jump with a 35-0.25 mark that moves her to 3rd All-Time on Campolindo's record board. Jayachandran followed that moments later with a school record 45.95 finish in the 300 hurdles, good enough for 4th place.

Other point earners included Juliet Farnan (12), who finished 6th in the 1600m, and Rachel Johnson (15), who placed 6th in the 3200m. Margaret Macy (12) set a new best in the discus at 114-1 to place 4th.

Jessie Hyde returned to her 2010 form, eclipsing the PR she set in her sophomore year, with an 11-2 clearance that now ranks her 3rd All-Time in the pole vault.

The girls' winning team effort was closed out with a season best 1600 relay mark of 4:04.30.

For the boys, Brian Pfaff (13) qualified for the Meet of Champions with a 5th place in high jump. The 6-2 clearance is the first over that height by a Campolindo athlete in twenty years.

Ryan Hoffman (13) and Leland Wong (12) also climbed the Cougar record lists in the 400m and 800m, respectively, while Vinson Compestine (12) set a new career best in the 1600m and Tony Knox (12) improved his long jump mark to 20-3.
