| DFAL Meet vs. Dublin, Miramonte RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE Girls Grind out Wins, Boys Struggle in Season Opener vs. Dublin, Miramonte Sarah Cella (16) improved her 800m mark and added a leg on the 1600 relay squad to help the frosh soph girls to a 2-0 record at Wednesday's first DFAL meet. Haley Lewis (16) dominated the throwing events, including an impressive 27 foot shot put mark to start her high school career. Robin Powell (16) was the workhorse for the frosh soph girls, earning points in the 1600m, the 800m, the high jump, and running anchor on the 1600 relay. For the varsity girls, Miramonte made things interesting with a powerful sprint and hurdle line up. Fortunately, consistency from Lily Quint (14) in the vault, a one-two finish in high jump for Hadley Swanson (13) and Kelley Wirth (15), and a new personal best in discus for Laura DeCrescenzo (13) countered the Mats track victories. Wirth's five foot clearance in high jump moves her to 9th All Time in Campolindo history! With the girls' team score still in question, Mary Orders (15) surged away from her opponents in the 3200m. Her gutsy win clinched the meet for the Cougars, and helped protect their league championship streak. The boys' competition was also close, with the varsity team beating Dubliin, but falling short against their cross town rivals. A sweep of all three distance races by Miramonte made it tough for the squad to battle back, but to their credit, they kept the outcome in question until the final two events. Tyler Wilson (14) returned to form with a 39 foot toss of the shot, and Harrison Hughes ran personal bests in both the 100m and 200m. Gryphon Goodrich (13) also showed improvement, knocking nearly two seconds off his 400m personal record, and Jonathan Rowland (14) added another foot and a half to his shot put best.
