NCS Championships RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE NCS CHAMPIONS! The "new" navy blue used a solid pack performance to overcome the defending champion Pumas of Maria Carillo, as well as last week's league victors from Acalanes, in the NCS Division III Boys' race on Saturday to complete an improbable rise from early season mediocrity to post season wonder kids! As has become the norm, Robert Pulford (09) battled up front early, finishing in 15:45, shoulder to shoulder with Las Lomas' Greg Drosky. Just on their heels, Ross Geiger (09) used a long downhill push to gap a critical pack and maintain valuable points through the final mile. With a return to form for Colby Pines (09), and a clutch performance from an ailing Paul Jackson (10), the varsity boys reclaimed their spot at the top of the section's toughest division! The 16:06 team average was a 12 second improvement over the squad's 2006 effort, good enough for the fifth fastest team time of the day. Not to be outdone, the varsity girls launched from the line and took control early in their rematch against section rival Maria Carillo. At the mile mark the Cougars held an intimidating advantage with their scoring five snuggly packed together in the top ten. Grace Orders (11) led the way, chewing up the course and building a twenty meter lead by the first hill. Laurie Finnegan (08) boldly pushed through the second mile, carrying teammates Lisa Rosenthal (09) and Sara Mostatabi (11) away from the Pumas' third scorer, inspiring the route. Emily Brennan's 19:10 at the tape insured a pack marin under a minute, earning Campolindo an 18:45 average, second only to nationally ranked Carondelet. SEE THE COMPLETE NCS PICTURE ALBUM HERE!
