Rooks Brave Brutal Conditions, Open Season with Split against Purple Hoard

Sizzling temperatures made for a tough start to the 2007 cross country season as veterans and rookies tackled the two-mile course at Hidden Valley Park. In spite of the heat, the Cougars showed signs of great things to come with solid efforts against league rivals College Park, Acalanes and Alhambra.

Notable performers included PR setters Michael Delong (08) and Jason Budge (09) in the veteran boys race while newcomer Douglas Chudler (10) rocketed to runner-up honors in the rookie boys division.

Emily Brennan (10) was the run-away winner in the rookie girls division with teammates Meghan Ginley (10), Rachel Faoro (11) and Emily Black (11) all nearing the 16 minute mark.
