Girls' Squad Sets All-Time Team Mark in 7th Place Effort; Joyce Fills Third Spot to Lift Boys to 6th at State Championships

Season best performances from the Cougars top trio helped them achieve the fastest varsity girls' team time in school history at Saturday's CIF State Championships on the Woodward Park 5k course. Carrie Verdon (12) reached the podium with a 9th place individual effort. Grace Orders (11) and Sara Mostatabi (11) each set career best marks, breaking the 19 minute barrier. Sarah Orders (13) knocked 40 seconds off her own course best while Emily Brennan took over the 5th spot for the Cougars, finishing in a season best 19:57.

Paul Jackson (10) and Dylan Laucher (11) closed in on the 16 minute mark in leading the boys' team to 6th place. Thomas Joyce (12) finished his season with a personal best of 16:30 to take over the number three spot while Wesley Caspillo (12) and Leland Wong (12) rounded out the Cougar's scorers.
