Early Spill Can't Stop Verdon; Junior Star Overtakes 12 in Final Mile to Finish 19th at Foot Locker National Championships

In her first appearance at the Foot Locker high school cross country National Championships, Campolindo's Carrie Verdon (12) overcame an early race tumble to finish 19th among the top 40 distance runners in America.

After a solid start that had the DIII state champion positioned in the lead pack, Verdon was clipped by another runner and dropped to the turf. The junior recovered quickly and maintained her composure, setting to work on gaining back her position as the field began its first climb of the course's main hill.

At the 1.5 mark Verdon was 31st. By the time she crossed the finish line she had picked up twelve places!
