Intra squad Competition Highlights HSU Retreat behind Redwood Curtain

In addition to skill sessions at the track, long runs through national forest trails, morning and afternoon lectures, and an apparently endless menu of fried foods, Campolindo attendees of this year's Humboldt State Distance Running Camp enjoyed friendly rivalry with teammates. Divided into four squads, the Cougars faced off in a variety of competitions, including ultimate Frisbee, pictionary, thumper, and a wacky relay.

By the end of the week, most had successfully completed 10 runs, learned plenty of new concepts, and befriended runners from across the state and beyond.

Inspired by speakers like 1500m national champion Jamey Harris, and Olympic trials marathon winner Mark Conover, the Campo veterans are eager for the official start of the cross country season on Monday, August 13th!
