Speckman Knocks Nearly 2 Minutes off Previous Course Best at Ed Sias Invite

8 Cougar harriers improved by a full minute or more on the Hidden Valley Park 2.0 mile course at Saturday's 35th annual Ed Sias Invitational. However, it was Rowan Speckman (22) who topped the list as the returning sophomore chopped 1 minute and 54 seconds off the time he set at the practice meet during his freshman year.

Speckman finished 64th out of 161 runners in the FS/JV Unlimited division. Keanu Wang (22) was the top Campolindo performer in the race, finishing 29th in 13:49. The mark is 1 minute and 9 seconds faster than his performance at the 2018 DAL Championships.

Other gaudy improvements came from Casey Dow (23) and Josh Fordelon (23), who each lowered his course best by 1 minute and 32 seconds.

Rising up the girls' depth chart, Anna Wilson (23) and Quinn Guthrie (23) finished within a second of each other to help their frosh soph squad land the runner-up position behind Dublin High School. Their team score was bolstered by Ellie Buckley's (23) individual victory in 13:00.

Also finishing 2nd in the team standings, the varsity boys' squad was led by Cayden Hein (20) and Dylan Gunn (21), who managed to finish on the heels of Maria Carrillo's terrific tandem of Colton Swinth and Rory Smail. Bradford Martin (21) wrapped up the scoring for the varsity team with a 20-second improvement to grab the 28th finishing position.

Alex Lodewick (23) was the only other individual champion for the Cougars, as the freshman star ran away from his frosh-soph rivals over the final 800 meters to reach the tape in 10:41, the 3rd fastest Campolindo time of the day across all divisions.
