McCool Posts Huge PR, Girls Dominate in Roughrider Invite Large School Victory Following a lackluster start, Caroline McCool (24) delivered a ferocious 2nd and 3rd mile to assume the varsity girls' #4 position and claim 13th place at Friday afternoon's Roughrider Invitational on the Woodward Park course in Fresno. The junior veteran's 19:09 finishing time was an improvement of nearly 4 minutes, and helped her squad overtake division-one ranked Dougherty Valley for the team victory. Fireworks were provided up front by Ellie Buckley (23), who ran away with the individual win in a time of 17:54, and Shea Volkmer (25), who continued her consistently impressive season to finish 3rd. The varsity boys' competition also revealed promise for the Cougar's post-season as Alex Lodewick (23) and Rhys Pullen (22) managed to break up the pack of the state's top-ranked division-two program, Granada, to finish 2nd and 5th, respectively. Meanwhile, Connor McGhee (23) and Finn Jordan (22) each registered another significant improvement, with the former debuting on the course in a sensational 16:08 and the latter posting an improvement over his previous course best by nearly a minute. Ethan Cho (22) was another bright spot for the Cougars, dropping his course record by over a minute.
