JUNG STATE MEDALIST
Junior Star Adds Inch to Area Record, Vaults to Fifth Place CIF Podium Spot

After qualifying through Friday's California State Track & Field Championship Trials with a vault that equaled her school and area record, Stacey Jung (08) literally "took it up a notch" to secure a place on the medal stand at Saturday's Finals.

Clearing a new personal best of 12-4 on her first attempt, Jung rose above a quartet of competitors that topped out at 11-10 to insure her place among California's elite vaulters.

Jung's sensational performance was not without drama however, as her first attempt at 12-10 ended in a frightening pole snap that sent the junior star crashing down awkwardly into the pit. Fortunately, Jung was unharmed, though the pole that had her soaring over the previous height was in pieces.

Joey Kochlacs (07) wrapped up his fine season with a tough 3200m performance in windy conditions.
