Laucher Muscles to Win, Cahill Claims Two at Friday Distance Festival; Murray Tops 200m Field Saturday

With a jaw dropping 20 second improvement from his debut 1600m performance at the practice meet, Dylan Laucher (11) inspired an evening of huge Campolindo highlights as more than half of the Cougar entries walked off with coveted "Top 3" t-shirts!

Laucher bolted to the lead of his early heat and never looked back. The quiet rookie, energized by a mob of teammates chanting his name in the stands, muscled his way down the home stretch to finish in 5:12.

Other heat wins included savvy even split runs for Patrick Trotter (10), Andrew Wang (10) and Matt Keeble (10).

On the girls' side, Jessie Cahill (10) crushed the competition with runaway victories in her 1600m and 800m heats to join frosh superstar Grace Orders (11) as the only double shirt winners of the meet.

After an evenly paced run to finish third in the top section of the 1600m, Orders returned to the oval four hours later to execute an impressive negative split 3200m that dropped the rest of the field in the final four laps. Her first attempt at the distance was good enough for 7th All-Time on the Cougar record board!

Olivia Warren (10) began her season right where she left off last year, rolling to the meet's second fastest 800m time with consistent splits of 72 and 73 seconds.

Saturday's sprint festival enjoyed solid efforts from the third place 1600m Relay squad of Julien LaCour (08), Keeble, Garret Holmes (09) and Max Bayuk (10), as well as a meet leading 200m finish for Daniel Murray (08).
