Shurtz Rises to 4th All-Time with 157 Foot Discus Mark; Team Sweeps Knights

Featuring a pair of historic performances, Wednesday's meet vs. Las Lomas enjoyed a 4 division sweep for the Cougars, who continue to eye league titles for the varsity girls', as well as both frosh soph squads.

Highlighting the field events, Jack Shurtz (15) added 6 feet to his discus best, sending the platter 157-11 to win the competition and climb to #4 on the school record board.

Other impressive improvements in the field included a first-time to 15 feet in the long jump for Kristy Chiang (15), as well as an 8 foot clearance in the pole vault for Matthew Protzen (18).

On the track, Brighie Leach (15) continued her tear through the record books with a 2:14.69 clocking for 800m, improving her #2 All-Time mark by a second. Timothy Sams (18) dropped 13 seconds from his 1600m PR to finish in 5:03.36 and establish himself as a serious "most improved" candidate for the season.

Aaron Lin (16) crushed his 8-laps in the 3200m race to improve by 20 seconds while Julian Haresco (16) picked up a nice pair of PR's in the throwing events.

In the girls' 1600m Bella Chao (18) rolled to a new lifetime best by over 10 seconds, winning in 5:37.65.

Sophomore hurdle tandem Julie Hyatt (17) and Mariah Brown (17) dipped under 50 seconds in the 300's for the first time this year
