| DAL Meet vs. Acalanes RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE Lodewick Drops 5th-All-Time 800m Time as Varsity Boys Complete Perfect Season The varsity boys overcame their toughest opponent in recent years to finish the Diablo Athletic League undefeated. The victory over Acalanes at Wednesday's final dual meet of the 2023 season came down to the final leg of the final event of the day. Alex Thomasson (24) managed to stay close to the Dons' 3rd-leg runner in the 1600m relay before handing the baton over to 100m winner Josh Myers (23). Myers then took the lead down the backstretch and never relinquished it, splitting 50.2 to help the Cougars clinch the team win. Earlier in the day, Alex Lodewick (23) earned 5 points for his squad with a 1:56.99 clocking in the 800m. The time moves the senior to 5th on the school record list. Critical points were claimed in the field events as the trio of Bryce McLaverty (24), Ben Axelrod (25), and Julian Blumberg (25), swept the discus. McLaverty and Axelrod also picked up vital places in the shot put. While the frosh soph squads also outdistanced the Dons in the team standings, the varsity girls lost a heartbreaker, 68-66. Anna Stubbington (23) and Mari Testa (23) provided some individual success, moving up on the all-time lists in the shot put and 100m hurdles, respectively. Ellie Buckley (23) and Shea Volkmer (24) also shined with their first sub-2:20 performances in the 800m. Several frosh-soph athletes enjoyed big PR's in the jumps, including Sean Parker (26), who leaped 19 feet in the long jump, and Sierra Worster (26), who cleared 7-6 in the pole vault.
