Tringe Shocks Hurdle Field with All-Time List Performance at Area Championships

Having set a significant career best the previous week to gain an unexpected advancement to the NCS Tri-Valley Area Championships, Laurel Tringe (24) surprised yet again by chopping another full second off her hurdle PR to finish 7th in warm conditions at Pittsburg High School. Her 16.46 mark was good enough to earn a spot in next weekend's NCS Meet of Champions and leapfrogged the senior over some of Campolindo's all-time greats. She is now the #8 performer in school history.

Also moving on to the next level are Pinkie Schnayer (24) and Shea Volkmer (24). Each easily outdistanced the competition in 2 separate events. Schnayer won the shot put and discus titles while Volkmer ran away with 1600m and 3200m victories.

Other highlights on the exceptionally hot day included new personal bests in the discus for Ben Axelrod (25) and Grace Allen (25). Their marks also move them on to Dublin High School for a chance to face the rest of the best in the section.

A pair of sophomores, Malik Li (26) and Sierra Worster (26), stayed alive another week in the pole vault competition. Worster's 9-9 clearance moves her to 8th all time.
