Windy, Wet Conditions Halt Miramonte Dual; Andrzejek Shines in Difficult Double

Weather conditions wrecked what would have been the Cougars' first league competition of the 2025 season on Wednesday afternoon at Miramonte. Persistent rain, wildly unpredictable wind, and bouts of hail all conspired to make the meet exceptionally challenging foer many involved.

After cancellation of most field events as well as the hurdle events, the meet hosts attempted to provide competitive opportunities in the remaining running events and the shot put. Yet, with athletes soaked to the bone and temperatures continuing to plummet, the decision was made to suspend the procedings after the final 800m race.

In the 6 events that were contested, highlights included an impressive double from the distance trio of Caden Ehrhorn (28), Claire Andrzejek (26), and Kiona McCasland (27). Each set season-best marks in the 1600m before doubling back just minutes later to post the top times in the 400m.

Also impressive considering the circumstances were the girls' 400 Relay debuts. Both the varsity and frosh soph squads carried the baton around the oval without incident, finishing 1st and 2nd, respectively.
