McCasland, Moore, Stimmler Each Turn Doubles; Boys Distance Dominates Dons With a slight tailwind persisting down the homestretch for most of the affair, conditions were optimal for sprinters at Wednesday's DAL Dual Meet v. Acalanes hosted in Bob Wilson Stadium. Taking full advantage, Sophia Moore (28) streaked to victory in the 100m sprint with a new personal best of 12.10 before winning the pole vault competition later in the day. Earlier in the meet, Emma Stimmler (28) used the ideal circumstances to rocket past the 15-second barrier in the 100 hurdles. Her winning time of 14.98 is now 2nd-best on the all-time school record list. The sophomore followed up with a 300 hurdle finish in 46.04 that now ranks her #2 in the section. Meanwhile, Jasmine McCasland (27) continued her record-board rise with career marks in both the 400m and 200m events. Her 400m time of 47.18 is 3rd on the all-time record list and currently #3 in the section, making the junior a contender for state championship qualification. Aided by a 2.0-meters-per-second wind reading, McCasland's 200m performance also ranks 3rd all-time and moves her to 6th overall in the NCS. In the boys' competition, the Cougar distance squad again flexed its considerable depth with a sweep of the front 5 finishing places. Chase Nickens (28) and Carter Cook (27) paced the group through 800 meters in 2:11 before pressing hard on the 3rd lap. Nickens took the tape in 4:21.66 with Cook close behind in 4:22.66. Gavin Gunn (27) held on for 3rd with a new PR of 4:24.12. the boys' sprints featured just the 3rd time in school history that an athlete has eclipsed the 11-second barrier for the full 100 meter distance in wind-legal conditions. Micah Parker (26) did the job with a 10.91 clocking to finish 2nd. Most improved on the day was Ilinca Galatanu (29), who added added over 6 feet to her triple jump mark to win the event. She was also victorious in both hurdle races and the high jump, earing 20 points for the frosh soph girls' squad.
