McCasland, Stimmler Both Ascend Record Lists in Multiple Events at Bay Area Relays

Warm temperatures and favorable wind allowed sprint and jump stars Jasmine McCasland (27) and Emma Stimmler (28) to set personal bests in both sprinting and jumping at Saturday's Bay Area Relays hosted at Foothill High School in Pleasanton. The junior-sophomore tandem streaked to record board times in the open 100m, with McCasland taking advantage of a 2.5 meter-per-second tail wind to post the 3rd fastest time ever for Campolindo, breaking the tape in 12.25.

Preceding the outstanding sprint performances, each improved her mark in the field. First, Stimmler leaped to a career best 5-2 clearance in the high jump, which ties her for 4th all-time. Then, McCasland soared to the 2nd long jump mark over 18 feet in school history.

In the relay events, the quartet of Carter Cook (28), Chase Nickens (28), Taiyo Chiba (27), and Nikola Van Delft (27), chased a fast 4 x 800 Relay field to average 2 minutes per leg and earn the 2nd best mark ever for the Cougars. The performance came just hours after the squad posted the 8th best Distance Medley Relay time on the school record list.

Micah Parker (26) also benefited from the optimal conditions to clock a windy 12.06 in the 100m.

The last record board improvement came from Alaina Lawrence (29) in the frosh soph girls' pole vault, where she won the competition with a 6-inch improvement to 9-6.
