Tsang Knocks 3 Minutes off Last Week, Jetly Improves 6 Minutes over Last Year; Meadows Bolsters Varsity with 13th Place Finish at Ed Sias Invitational

While teammates Carrie Verdon (12) and Grace Orders (11) topped the varsity girls small school division field at Saturday's 26th edition of the Ed Sias Invitational, both earning spots among the top 25 fastest finishers in the history of the event, varsity newcomer Rachel Meadows (12) dropped another 43 seconds off her previous 2 mile best. The 13:05 on the Hidden Valley Park course landed her in 13th place, just ahead of DFAL rival Acalanes' second runner, Amy Holishwandner.

Meadows' performance was just one of a landslide of improvements that indicate the Cougars are on track to defend their DFAL titles and improve upon their post season performance of a year ago.

In the Frosh Boys' race, Everett Tsang finished in 14:58, nearly three minutes faster than his mark from just one week earlier at the Little Ed practice meet. Meanwhile, veteran Rahil Jetly (12) improved six minutes over his 21:54 clocking at last year's Ed Sias Invitational.

In the team scoring, the varsity boys' and frosh soph girls' squads emerged victorious out of the nine scoring divisions. With a huge summer of training under his belt, Greg Garcia (11) finished 18th overall to help the Cougars place all five scorers among the top 20. Diana Kossakowski (13) crushed her pervious two-mile best by nearly 90 seconds to back up top ten finishes by teammates Sarah Orders (13) and Haley Shipway (14) for the team title.
