Wet Weather Doesn't Dampen Dipsea Fun; 33 Athletes Attend Annual Beach Trip

The 2011 Dipsea trail run and Stinson Beach BBQ enjoyed its largest turnout as 33 athletes were transported by parent volunteers to Old Mill Park in Mill Valley on Saturday. The group then traversed the seven mile trail over the shoulder of Mt. Tamalpais to the Pacific surf. In spite of the unusually cool temperatures and heavy cloud cover, most finished off their run with a plunge into the frigid water before descending upon the pic nic spread prepared by parents.

The rest of the day was spent on the beach, under a blanket of fog that never lifted. Volley ball, sand sculpting, and a brief excursion in search of elusive star fish on the rocky south end of the beach were all done without a ray of sunshine. Nevertheless, Cougar athletes enjoyed the time spent with teammates at the midway point in their summer training schedule.
