Lashkari Executes Perfect Plan to Finish Nearly 2 Minutes Ahead of 2018 Mark

After a well paced 1st mile, Vishal Lashkari (21) surged through the 2nd half of the Newhall Park 2-mile course at Saturday's De La Salle Invitational. The sophomore's performance was an outstanding example of even-split racing and helped his squad earn a 6th place finish in the 28-team frosh soph boys' field. Demonstrating what a year of consistent training can do, Lashkari's 11:51 finishing time was 1:56 ahead of his 2018 performance at the same meet.

Also improving by nearly 2-minutes over her freshman-year time, Katie Strohmeyer (21) broke the tape in 16:39 to finish 65th in the junior varsity girls' race.

Meanwhile, Paloma Hancock (20) made her 2018 3-mile debut with an impressive 5th-place finish in the varsity girls' division. After a controlled 1st mile, the junior veteran closed well to overtake several individual rivals. Fellow varsity competitor Sarah Naughten (20) achieved her goal by breaking the 21-minute mark.

In the frosh soph girls' race, Sophie Webster (21) made her bid for varsity consideration, setting a 6:37 per-mile pace good enough for 5th place overall.

The highest placer in boys' competition on the day was Finn Jordan (22), who began his high school cross country career with a 4th place finish in the frosh soph unlimited division.
