Dow Wins Annual Orienteering Challenge

The only challenger within sight of Casey Dow (23) as he turned in his map after successfully navigating his way to each of the 12 control points in and around Hidden Valley Park at Saturday's Orienteering Championships was not even in the same division. In fact, Dow handily outdistanced his closest rival in the veteran boys' division by nearly 10 minutes.

Makena Weberski (24), finished the course just a few seconds behind the overall champion to win the veteran girls' competition. The junior managed to stay clear of the mud pit that derailed her performance last year to hold off runner up Bryn Hober (23).

The rookie girls' division featured a 17-second spread between the podium finishers, with Libby Wong (26) taking the victory. Meanwhile, the rookie boys' struggled in the test of map reading and off-trail maneuvering. Declan Anderson (25) won the division with a whopping 76-minute finish time.
