Varsity Girls Earn Lone Podium Spot for Cougars at 39th Annual Ed Sias Invite

Campolindo High School welcomed 48 teams from across the state at Saturday's 39th running of the Ed Sias Invitational at Hidden Valley Park. While the Cougars worked tirelessly to offer an exciting kick off to the fall season for all attendees, many also toed the line themselves for the first in uniform.

Race highlights included an astounding 3 minute and 21 second improvement on the 2.0-mile course from Ethan Rojas (28), who finished in 13:27. Also with an impressive jump over his previous best was Guy Sandler (27), who lowered his time by 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

Katherine Vonderbrink (28) showed the results of her consistent training with a team-leading 1 minute and 5 second improvement for the girls.

The only squad to reach the podium for the Cougars was the varsity girls', who finished 4th in the small-school division to earn team medals and New Balance backpacks. Top finisher on that squad was Amalia Contreras (27), who placed 3rd overall.
