Balanced Attack Propels Campolindo to 1st League Title Sweep Since Epic 2010

In 2010 the Cougars unleashed a historic effort at the Diablo-Foothill Athletic League Championships hosted by Acalanes High School, winning every division in commanding fashion as a result of dominating performances from the likes of Campolindo track & field legends Michael Hoffman (10), Matt Keeble (10), Eva Issacs (10), Hadley Swanson (12), and Carrie Verdon (12). It was the 1st, and until this past Saturday, the only time a single school had earned all 4 titles.

13 years later, the Cougars once again find themselves boasting the quadruple crown with a sweep of the divisional titles at the Diablo Athletic League Championship finals hosted at Campolindo on May 6.

While the frosh soph girls pulled away early due to the impressive determination of multi-event winners like Sloan Pullen (25), who turned in a triple victory day in the distance events, and Sarah Graves (26), who lorded over the short sprints, the other 3 squads contended with formidable league rivals through to the very end.

After suffering a disappointing defeat in their dual meet against Las Lomas earlier in the season, the frosh soph boys were rallied by the winged fee of Cody De La Cruz (26), who earned 30 pints with wins in the 1600m, 800m, and 3200m. Harrison Fuller (25) contributed his own 1st-place points by virtue of a 10-foot clearance in the pole vault.

Milo Davis (26) was also a huge factor for the frosh soph boys, picking up 20 points from his placing in the 100m, 200m, and triple jump.

The varsity girls held off the challenge from a deep Clayton Valley squad to repeat as league champions. The victory was fueled by a balanced lineup that included individual wins in the sprints, hurdles, distances, and throws.

And finally, the varsity boys closed out the perfect day by overcoming a formidable Acalanes team that had foiled their hopes for a championship in 2022. Quinn Ahearn (23) was the only multi-event champion for the Cougars, sweeping the hurdle events.

Bryce McLaverty (24) earned a shot put title while Alex Lodewick (23) came away with a 3200m win and Garret Nelson (23) topped an impressive field in the 100m.
