McCasland Leads Relay Squads to Season Bests; 19 Advance to Meet of Champions

All three girls' relays earned advancement to the NCS Meet of Champions by virtue of finishing in the top 6 at Saturday's NCS Tri-Valley Area Championships hosted by Clayton Valley High School.

2 of the 3 squad were anchored by sprint standout Jasmine McCasland (27). The sensational sophomore also advanced in the open 400m by placing 3rd. Her 400 split on the anchor leg of the 1600 relay was an astonishing 56.6, the fastest by a Campolindo athlete since all-time great Maddy Doane carried the baton for the Cougars in 2019.

The big-time performer for the boys' team was Sean Parker (26), who used a blustery tailwind to sail over 46 feet in the triple jump for the 1st time in his career. The mark landed him 3rd place in the competition and 3rd on the school record list.

Other highlights included record-board worthy marks for Helen Randolph (25) in the 1600m, Sarah Graves (27) in the 100m, and Emma Stimmler in the 300 hurdles.

All told, 19 athletes captured qualification on to the NCS Meet of Champions and a shot at advancing to the state championships.
